VN35A Ha Noi classic tour (HD)

Kick off the tour with a one-hour cyclo tour of Ha Noi’s quaint Old Quarter which allows you to catch a glimpse of historic Ha Noi and see plenty of traditional Vietnamese architecture. Meet the water puppet “magician” and enjoy a show at his house in Ha Noi. Enjoy the incredible experience of touching and controlling the puppets under the water. Start your exploration with a short walk through the Ha Noi backstreets alive with daily activities. Meet the artist who was born into a family going back seven generations of water puppeteers. Learn a little about the artist’s family as well as more about this traditional art. Enjoy the mini show and try controlling the puppets yourself. VN30F The Water Puppet & Cyclo Tour (2hrs) 

A local guide will meet you at your hotel and you will begin a city tour with a cyclo ride through the fascinating Old Quarter - 36 historic streets where you can observe the daily bustle of life around the Old Quarter. Then you will be transferred to the Water Puppet theatre in downtown Ha Noi. The performance runs for approximately 50 minutes, and afterwards you will be transferred back to your hotel.

Ha Noi, one of the cultural centres of Vietnam, is a place where you can find art in almost any corner of the city. Begin your journey by visiting the Vietnam Fine Art Museum and the closed by gallery where you will gain an overview of the country’s art. Drive to Bui Thanh Phuong’s private studio to enjoy his original masterpieces. Have a conversation with the Ha Noi Artist Bui Thanh Phuong - son of the renowned Ha Noi artist Bui Xuan Phai (1920-1988) about his family art works before being transferred back to your hotel.

VN26B Craft Villages (FD)

Ha Noi - Dong Ho - But Thap - Bat Trang - Ha Noi

Drive to Dong Ho Village in the morning where artisans have been practicing woodblock painting since the 17th century. Then explore the art of making Dong Ho paintings before driving along the dike of Duong River to But Thap Pagoda. Afterwards, continue to Dinh To Village and walk around to discover the daily life of the Vietnamese village. Drive to Bat Trang Village, which is renowned for its ceramics. Lunch. In the afternoon, visit the Bat Trang Pottery Museum, a place to preserve the village’s cultural values. Then visit a traditional house in the craft village of Bat Trang. Then, take a stroll through the narrow lanes of the ancient village to discover and witness the art of pottery and ceramics coming to life. Visit a traditional craft kiln “Lò Bầu”. Under the guidance of skilled artisans, you will learn how to shape ceramic products. Visit the local market that boasts a variety of ceramic products. Return to Ha Noi. [Lunch]

VN31 Ninh Binh Rural Life (FD)

Drive to Ninh Binh. Upon arrival, you will take delight in a scenic bicycle ride around paddy fields, pagodas, small villages, and markets. A visit to a local village will offer you a chance to interact with the local people by partaking in their daily activities. Discover the lifestyle, hospitality, and friendliness of the Northern people when you prepare lunch with a local family. Later, work alongside the farmers in the field and learn how wet rice is cultivated. Sit back and take in the mesmerizing limestone cliffs while cruising on the Van Long reservoir. Drive back to Ha Noi in the late afternoon. [Lunch]

VN31C Tam Coc and Dinh Le Temples (FD)

Take a drive to the dramatically landscaped province of Ninh Binh. Pay a visit to Hoa Lu, a former capital of Vietnam and then continue to the Dinh Temple and Le Temple where people pay their respects to former kings of the nation. Afterwards, head to Tam Coc where you will travel in a local sampan along the Ngo Dong River among the stunning limestone formations rising out of the plain. Drive back to Ha Noi in the afternoon. VN37 Thai Hai village (FD) 

In the morning, drive to Thai Nguyen (90km) to visit the Thai Nguyen Ethnology Museum (closed on Mondays). Proceed to Thai Hai village, where a warm welcome awaits you. Discover the peaceful life of the village, populated with Tay ethnic minority who still practice their culture and tradition. Take a pleasant walk around the village, discover traditional stilt-houses, and practice local ceremonies, ritual… Learn more about the Tay gastronomy through conversations with locals. After lunch, witness the unique performance of the ‘then’ song which is the religious music of Tay’s people. In the afternoon you may stroll around the village for additional exploration and local encounters. Hands-on experience of making local cakes and handicraft, soak your feet in a traditional herbal treatment before returning to Ha Noi.
